NMR Data Transfer Software:

Currently all NMR data transfer (Bruker and Varian) is done with the use of SSH (secure shell) software. We ask that you use this as opposed to flash drives so as to avoid malware. Since we are under the UIC IP umbrella now outside users will have to either email their data from here on campus or use a flash drive as a last resort. If you plug directly into the ethernet in SEL/SES then you should be able to access the NMRs remotely.

winSCP - Preferred Windows data transfer software.
- for Mac OS X maybe try "filezilla". cyberduck and rsync no longer work unfortunately (get cypher errors..).
- for Linux "Rsync" is the best or use line commands.
go_rsync - Here is an example of how I run a shell script to copy my data over with Rsync.

You should have received a document with login/passwd info upon completion of the check out process.
The IP addresses are:

  • 10.19.195.20 (or try 131.193.195.20) - DPX 400 (RRC)(data under: /opt/topspin/data/username)
  • 10.19.195.19 (or try 131.193.195.19) - DRX 500 (RRC)(data under: /opt/topspin/data/username)
  • 10.19.195.113 (or try 131.193.195.113) - 500HD (RRC)(data under: /home/username/data)
  • 10.19.195.25 (or try 131.193.195.25) - AVI 500 (SEL)(data under: /opt/topspin/data/username)
  • 10.19.196.24 (or try 131.193.196.24) - 400wb (SES)(data under: /home/username/data)
  • 10.19.196.22 (or try 131.193.196.22) - 500wb (SES)(data under: /home/username/data)
  • Wi-Fi access to NMRs using a virtual tunnel

Those with a UIC ICard number should be able to access data through a virtual private network (VPN). The VPN will allow full access to UIC resources (Library, NMRs, etc) from an outside network.

  • See: UIC_VPN_CLIENT
  • Install AnyConnect for your OS type
  • Now choose one of the IP addresses above and login as if you are on the NMR spectrometer
