the BSMS/2 has 5 fans total (see below). to service: UNPLUG 2 power supply cables in the back. 1. remove all the cables on the front of bsms 2. remove exhaust tray above fan tray 3. remove two rails as they lift in the front and slide in at the back. 4. remove mount bolts on the front. 5. slide bsms out slowly and watch for all the connnections in the back 6. remove 3 screws on each side of the bsms that hold fan tray in. 7. lift up tray and gently rotate. although there is a power cord which you can't disconnect the tray will flip over. 8. place towels under tray before soldering. 9. etc.. The BSMS needs to be almost completely taken out of the rack. I typically lean the front edge on a box and the rear is just barely on the rails. Then with a ¼”ratchet and a 1” #2 Phillips bit I take the three screws out from either side. The tray then flips over to be worked on. Maybe a cardboard under it to catch loose solder. I find with careful prying of the fans the rubber mounts stay intact so I clean the whole mess and slightly coat the elastic fittings with silicone grease. Then mount and solder the fans. Of course you have to take the shim and other cables off the front and disconnect some cables/hoses if they are not long enough in the back.
