the BSMS/2 has 5 fans total (see below). to service: 1. ha - bsms2 - service - soft shutdown 2. power off in front 3. unplug power cables in back 4. remove all cables in front needed to slide completely out 5. slide out about 1/2 way and disconnect pnk5 card and slide out bsms2 6. can now slide out bsms2 completely. careful it is heavy. 7. lift up tray and gently rotate. although there is a power cord which you can't disconnect the tray will flip over. 8. place towels under tray before soldering. 9. alternatively access system as below: The BSMS needs to be almost completely taken out of the rack. I typically lean the front edge on a box and the rear is just barely on the rails. Then with a ¼”ratchet and a 1” #2 Phillips bit I take the three screws out from either side. The tray then flips over to be worked on. Maybe a cardboard under it to catch loose solder. I find with careful prying of the fans the rubber mounts stay intact so I clean the whole mess and slightly coat the elastic fittings with silicone grease. Then mount and solder the fans. Of course you have to take the shim and other cables off the front and disconnect some cables/hoses if they are not long enough in the back.
